5 Comfort Features Inside a Murase Kabanko Randoseru

A randoseru is carried almost every school day for six years, so how it sits on a child's back matters as much as how it looks. Murase Kabanko, the randoseru maker founded in Nagoya in 1957, builds several comfort features into its bags. Here is what each one does, based on information published by Murase Kabanko.

1. M Cushion: 10 mm of shock absorption

The M Cushion is a 10 mm shock-absorbing cushion placed where the bag meets the back. Murase Kabanko describes it as a difficult material for craftsmen to work with, yet uses it actively because it softens the impact of the bag against the body with every step.

2. Y-line back pad: airflow and stability

The Y-line back pad is shaped with raised sections on the left and right. The channels between them improve ventilation on hot days, and the raised sides help stop the bag from swaying sideways while walking or running.

3. Raised back fittings: a lighter feel

The shoulder straps attach to raised back fittings (η«‹γ‘δΈŠγŒγ‚ŠθƒŒγ‚«γƒ³) that follow the line of the body. By pulling the bag's centre of gravity closer to the back, they make the same weight feel lighter and encourage an upright posture.

4. Shoulder straps that curve with the body

The straps are shaped to bend with the shoulders, giving a close fit that spreads the load instead of pressing on one point.

5. A protective edge and flexible structure

Murase Kabanko randoseru use the classic "Gakushuin" form with a stitched edge (γΈγ‚Š) around the body, which protects most of the sides and base from scuffs and knocks. The body is strong but flexible enough to absorb force from outside instead of cracking.
